Nourish in the Harbour happened like all things do in the Spring. Little rumblings of thought waiting for the perfect time to burst into form. For years we had been answering the question "when will you open a location in town" with a smirk and a "one day", but didn't really believe the answer ourselves until the 225 Quebec Street Heritage Home was brought to our attention.
A walk through the rooms of the empty home brought visions of possibility just begging for opportunity. The kitchen windows showed layers of paint that fed the mind with stories. The dining room cast rays of natural light and the fire place in the centre of the room sat patiently waiting for the colder days. The staircase offered time for anticipation of what waited at the top - we've made these rooms an integral part of the Nourish experience. The patio showed signs of the past too... once a garden that was filled with herbs, the perennials carried the story on. The parking, south facing, instantly turned into a farm garden in our heads. By the time the front door closed on the way out, we knew it was really just opening.
Two months went by as we peeled away the darkness that covered the walls. Our inspiration for the restoration was led by the historical beauty of the space balanced with what we wanted to contribute to the community over the years to come. Intricate details of the century old architecture lay the foundation for the future of the rooms. Our vision has come to life.
The dining room offers you a similar experience and menu as our first love - Nourish in the Garden - a space to “Eat With People You Love”. The Bar is an extension of the business that we are very excited about. This space has the extended hours of 8am-5pm offering fast paced nourishment including a bone broth bar (super cool), oatmeal pancakes with all kinds of toppings to choose from, gluten free wholesome (and yummy) baking, Fantastico espresso, quick lunch items, and Unsworth Rose and Hoyne Brew on tap... that's right, we have a liquor licence. The second floor houses the Study, the Parlour, and the Fermentorium (a room that holds the preserves and kefir that are made in house). The Study is attached to the Bar and you are welcome to use this space to relax solo or with friends. Wifi is all yours here too. The Parlour is a more private space that will be used for group gatherings, workshops and supper clubs.
We, as a team, are passionate about healthy food. That passion roots from our common belief on just how incredibly important healthy food is for positive, meaningful, conscious, and interconnected relationships. Nourish in the Garden is a magical space and we were spoiled with the beauty of the atmosphere and the ability to share such a special place. It is such an important piece to the overall experience, we did not want to branch out until we found something that captured the same feeling for both us and our guests - Nourish in the Harbour offers this, as well as, endless growth potential - we just can't wait to get the farm garden going (yet another extension to amplify your experience with us) and start cooking up dinner using veggies grown with love and care by our very own hands.
Come ask us for a little tour and please do feel free to make yourself at home.
